How to request a MyID

UGA employees

As of August 2022, MyIDs are auto-provisioned for employees in primary positions using the following guidelines. This does not include affiliates.

Before a MyID is created, all hiring processes must be complete and entered into OneUSG Connect, and the employment information, including a hire date, must be delivered to the Identity Management System (IDM).

MyID accounts can be created up to 2 weeks prior to the hire date for staff and 2 months prior to the hire date for faculty.

Your department’s HR practitioners can use the views in OneUSG Connect to see new hire information, using 180_HR_FUTURE_DATED_ACT_RSN and 180_TL_ABS_ENROLLED. Employee reports are also available to HR practitioners at https://reports.uga.edu

Questions should be directed to OneUSGSupport@uga.edu.

UGA affiliates

Affiliate MyIDs are recommended for users without a current UGA HR assignment who require access to certain UGA systems. Types of affiliates include, but are not limited to:

  • Visitors
  • Vendors
  • Contractors
  • Consultants
  • Some Program Participants
  • Visiting Researchers
  • Visiting Scholars/Faculty

Note: You do not need a MyID or an affiliate MyID to access UGA_Visitor_Wifi.

To obtain an affiliate MyID, your department or unit must first request an affiliation either the UGA OneCard Office or UGA's Office of Visiting Researchers. Your affiliation type will be determined by your unit. Affiliations must be sponsored by an authorized UGA employee; affiliates cannot request an affiliation or an affiliate MyID themselves.

More information can be found at the following links:

Once an affiliation request has been originated, and start and end dates have been established, EITS can provision a MyID for the affiliate user on their start date via a MyID Request from the originating unit or sponsor. Their MyID will expire and become inactive on their affiliation end date.

More information regarding UGA affiliations can be found here:

Note: Sponsors who request affiliations for users are responsible for those users, and affiliates are bound by the same policies and procedures as all UGA Faculty, Staff, and Students per UGA’s Information Security Access and Security Polices, Regulations, and Guidelines.  Affiliations may be disabled at any time due to abuse of these standards.

Retired UGA employees

Most retired UGA employees already have MyIDs. If you do not have a MyID, you can request one by emailing helpdesk@uga.edu.

Please note that requesting a MyID doesn't guarantee approval. UGA Central HR determines if a user is an official UGA Retiree.

Beginning in 2023, UGA retirees who do not access their MyID accounts for a year or more will have their accounts deactivated. Retirees with inactive accounts will receive notices prior to deactivation; if they wish to keep their MyID and UGAMail active, they will have the opportunity to log in and have their account excluded from deactivation. More information is available on the EITS MyID website.

Departments or student organizations

MyIDs for departments and student organizations (also called departmental MyIDs) can only be requested by faculty and staff members. If you are a student requesting a Departmental MyID, you must have a UGA employee put in the request on your behalf.  The UGA employee will own the account.

To request a departmental MyID, visit the MyID Account Request form.

Click Request MyID on the right side of the page. If prompted, log in with your personal MyID and password.

Under What Type of Account is Needed? select Department.

Fill out all other required fields in the form.

Note: Once the form is completed, please wait five business days for the request to be reviewed and the account to be created.
