Available Duo authentication methods
Duo has an expansive catalog of authentication methods that are categorized into nine different groups listed by what Duo considers to be the most secure to least secure. Instructions for how to use each method is linked.
- Platform authenticators
- Touch ID and Face ID on macOS computers and iOS devices
- Windows Hello for Windows computers
- Biometrics for Android devices
- Roaming authenticators
- Security keys (USB devices for compatible browsers)
- Verified Duo Push
- Pushes a notification to the Duo Mobile app
- Requires a 4-digit code to be entered on the mobile device to verify
- Duo Desktop authentication
- Duo Desktop app pop up window appears
- Click Approve
- YubiKey passcodes
- Duo Mobile generated passcodes
- Found in the Duo Mobile app. Tap the UGA account row to expand it to show a passcode.
- Hardware token passcodes
- Press the button
- Enter the six-digit code that appears into the prompt
- SMS passcodes
- Sent via text message
- Enter the passcode into the on-screen prompt
- Phone call approval
- A registered phone number will be called to verify login.
- Dial 1 to approve, dial * to deny.
How to log into Duo: the basics
To log in to an ArchPass-protected system you will first enter your UGA MyID and password. Click Login. Then you will see the Duo authentication screen.
The prompt will automatically pick the most secure option for authentication based on your enrolled devices. Select Other Options to choose a different authentication method you would like to use.


After completing your authentication, you will be asked whether you trust the browser. Click Yes, trust browser to bypass to Duo verification prompt for 30 days on the same device and browser. This feature requires browser cookies.

Use Bypass Code
If you are unable to access any of your existing Duo authentication methods, please call the the EITS Help Desk who will provide you a temporary bypass code for Duo. Once you have the temporary code, select Bypass code from the list of Other options.

Enter the code that the EITS Help Desk gave in the text box. Then click Verify.
