You can use your MyID and password to sign in to your UGA Google Workspace account on a Chromebook. This method helps:
- Keep your personal and UGA accounts separate
- Enhance security with Duo two-factor authentication
How to log in
- Connect your Chromebook to the Internet.
- On the sign-in screen, click Add Person.
- Enter your email address in the format:
MyID@uga.edu
- Click Next.
- When the UGA Single Sign-On (SSO) page appears, log in using your MyID and password.
- Complete Duo two-factor authentication when prompted.
Once authentication is complete, you will be logged into your Chromebook with your UGA Google Workspace account.
Accessing the VPN on your Chromebook
Important: The Google Play Store and Chrome Web Store are not available when using your UGA Google Workspace account on a Chromebook. As a result, you cannot install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client directly through these stores.
Advanced Option (Linux Required)
If you need access to the Remote Access VPN:
- Set up Linux on your Chromebook
- Install the Linux version of the Cisco AnyConnect client, available in the article on Remote Access VPN.
Logging in to your Chromebook after you leave UGA
Important: When you leave UGA, your MyID is disabled after a period of time.
Once your MyID is disabled:
- You will no longer be able to log into your Chromebook using your UGA account.
- You will lose access to your UGA Google Workspace account, including:
- Files stored locally on the Chromebook
- Files stored in your UGA Google Drive
Transfer Ownership of Files Before Leaving
If you have shared files in Google Drive:
- Transfer ownership of important files to another UGA user before your last day
- This ensures others retain access after your account is disabled
