Note: These instructions are for downloading and accessing the VPN client on a mobile device. For instructions on downloading and accessing the VPN client on a laptop or desktop, visit How to Access the Remote Access VPN on a laptop or desktop.
Open the Cisco Secure Client-AnyConnect app. This app is available for free in the App Store or Google Play.
Click Connections, then Add VPN Connection.
You can type a name for the connection in the Description field or leave it blank. Enter remote.uga.edu for the Server Address. Click Done.
Your device may ask permission to add a VPN Connection. If it does, allow it. Click back arrow to get to the main screen.
Turn on the switch for AnyConnect VPN to get to the login screen.
Enter you MyID and password for Username and Password. In the Second Password field, enter your ArchPass Duo authentication method of choice. Select Connect to connect to the VPN.
Using the Second Password field
If you type phone, you will receive a call to your Duo-enrolled phone after selecting the OK button. Answer the call on your phone and press 1 to approve the login. You will then be connected to the VPN.
If you type push, you will receive a push notification to your Duo-enrolled phone or tablet after selecting OK. Select Approve on the notification from the app. You will then be connected to the VPN.
To use a passcode, open Duo Mobile and click Show to view the code. Enter that code or one from a text message into the Second Password box. Then select OK. You will then be connected to the VPN.
If you need another passcode by text message, type sms in the Second Password box and select Connect. You will receive a new code from Duo. You will then need to re-enter your password on the VPN login and type one of the new codes in the Second Password box. Then select Connect to complete the login and be connected to the VPN.
If you are using a secondary Duo device, add the number 2 after the words phone, push, or sms to have the action apply to that device. Example: Enter phone2 to call the secondary device or push3 for a tertiary device, etc.
