Accessing vLab using Microsoft Remote Desktop

In addition to accessing vLab via a web browser or through thin clients in computer labs, you can also access vLab via Microsoft Remote Desktop on devices with Windows, Mac, Android and iOS operating systems. Select your operating system for instructions. 

Access vLab via Microsoft Remote Desktop Client on Windows

Microsoft Remote Desktop is free and available on Microsoft's websiteDownload and run the installer.

You will be presented with the Let’s get started page. Click Subscribe.

If you are logging into vLab on a personal device, a Mac in the MLC, or another public use computer, you will need to log in by entering your MyID@uga.edu and password.

Select Work or School Account.

You will be prompted to verify your ID with ArchPass, powered by Duo. 

Once you are logged in, click the vLab icon. If you do not see an icon for vLab, click the arrow next to Desktops. You are now logged into vLab.

Access vLab Via Microsoft Remote Desktop Client on Mac OS and iOS

Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop client from the App Store and install it on your computer or mobile device. The app is free in the App Store.

If you are not prompted to enter the Workspace name, click on the +  and select Add Workspace.

Enter https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com as the name of the Workspace and click Add

You will see the vLab desktop icon listed as a Workspace.

Double click on the vLab icon to launch vLab.  Enter MyID@uga.edu and your MyID password when prompted.

If you are installing the app on a computer, you may be asked if you would like to Allow remote desktop connection? with the name of a virtual machine (VM) listed.  Click Yes to allow the connection to vLab.

You will be asked to verify your ID with ArchPass, powered by Duo. Once you verify your ID, you will be logged into vLab. 

Access vLab Via Microsoft Remote Desktop Client From an Android Device

The Microsoft Remote Desktop App is available for free in the Google Play Store.  Download and install the Remote Desktop app. 

When you open the app, you will be asked to accept a license agreement for the app. Tap Accept

Tap Workspaces at the bottom of the screen.  Tap the + at the top of the screen, and select Add Workspace

Enter https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com as the Workspace name.

Sign in with your MyID@uga.edu and your MyID password. You may be prompted to verify your ID with ArchPass, powered by Duo as well.

When prompted, select Work or School Account.

Tap the vLab icon to launch a vLab session.

Select whether you would like to be able to access your Android device's local storage or clipboard, and tap Connect.

Enter your MyID@uga.edu and MyID password again. You are now connected to vLab.
