Whether you’re new to owning a LISTSERV or need a refresher, this document will assist you in selecting the appropriate list type, requesting and setting up a list, and utilizing basic list management tools.
Getting Started
If you have not used LISTSERV before, you'll need to set a password for yourself. To do this, go to http://listserv.uga.edu/scripts/wa-UGA.exe?GETPW1
Once you've set a password for yourself, go to https://listserv.uga.edu/scripts/wa-UGA.exe?INDEX and click on 'Log In' in the upper right corner of the screen to access LISTSERV's web interface.
Requesting a List
There are two types of Lists you can request:
Announcement List: A one-way list used for announcements, newsletters, and similar types of communication. Only owners can post, replies to the list are not accepted. Additional authorized senders can be added once the list is created.
Discussion List: A multi-way discussion list. All subscribers can post. By default, replies will go to the list and list will not be moderated.
You can further customize who you want to be able to see the list and who can post to the list in the request. Below is a sample of what the list request looks like.

Testing Your List
To send a message to your list for redistribution, send an email to: YourListName@listserv.uga.edu. Note: Replace Bold Text with your Lists name.
Once a message has been distributed, It should be visible in the mailing list archives (If you requested archives) at http://LISTSERV.UGA.EDU/archives/YourListname.html
Mailing List Configuration
You can view or modify your mailing list configuration by going under List Management.
Next choose List Configuration
Information about the different settings can be found on Lsoft's website. Most of LISTSERV's web pages have a related help document that can be accessed by clicking on the '?' button in the upper right corner of the page. Lsoft has also created a series of video tutorials on assorted topics for how to use Listserv.
