Zoom Recording Tips

A meeting can be set to record automatically or during the meeting itself. You can record meetings hosted in your Zoom desktop application or your web browser, and recorded meetings can be saved locally or to the cloud.

Local recording options in Zoom Desktop application

In your Zoom desktop application, there are several settings to assist you in providing effective recordings and posting those recordings to Kaltura.

To access these settings, click the Gear icon in the top right of your Zoom application window.

Settings will pop up on the screen. Select Recording to change your local recording options.

At the top is a selection box called Store my recording at where you can indicate where the recordings will be saved on your computer.

We recommend selecting the check box for Optimize for 3rd party video editor. Enabling this will ensure the compatibility of the recording file with software you may use to edit the recording. This setting can also optimize the video size to a standard format.

The other options in the Local Recording section can be turned on or off depending on your recording needs.

Local and Cloud recording options in Zoom web browser

To access your Zoom recording options in your web browser, visit uga.zoom.us and Sign In with your MyID and password.

Select Settings on the left hand side of the screen, then select the Recording tab.

If you scroll down, you can see your options for Local and Cloud recording.

Note: Some cloud recording options for Zoom are managed unit-by-unit at UGA. For more information about how your unit manages Zoom cloud recording, contact your departmental IT representative.
