ArchPass, powered by Duo Changes - Duo Universal Prompt

Tags identity

Duo, the vendor behind UGA’s ArchPass two-step login solution, is updating the look and feel of their universal authentication prompt, and the process for the second step of two-step authentication will change in many UGA applications over the coming year.

The new Duo universal authentication prompt automatically picks the most secure option for authentication. The authentication option chosen depends on what devices the user has enrolled in Duo. For example, if a user has the Duo Mobile App installed on their smartphone, the prompt will automatically send a push notification.

When does the change to the prompt take effect?

The change will be rolled out in stages across all UGA applications that are protected by ArchPass, powered by Duo. Here are the dates applications will switch over to the new prompt:

  • January 19, 2023: Office 365 and UGAMail off-campus
  • May 18, 2023: SSO applications, including eLC, Athena and OneUSG Connect.

How does the new prompt work?

The new Duo Universal Prompt will automatically pick the most secure option for authentication based on your enrolled devices.  The Duo Universal Prompt will look like:

You can stop the automatically selected authentication option and select a different default option for future logins in that browser by selecting Other options.  Then select the authentication method and device you would like to use and complete the authentication to save that method as the default.
