Enrolling a Phone Number for Phone Call or SMS Passcode

Cellphone (phone call or SMS passcode)

  1. Log in to the Duo Self-Service Portal with your MyID and password. If you have an existing method, authenticate with Duo, then select Add a device.

  2. To enroll a basic cellphone, select Phone number from the list on the Add a device screen.

  3. Select your country code and enter your telephone number. Check the box to agree to receive messages from Duo. Then click Continue.

  4. Confirm the phone number is entered correctly, then click Yes, it’s correct.

    • You may be asked to confirm ownership of the phone number by sending a passcode by text or a phone call

    • Enter the passcode sent by text and click Verify.

  5. You will be taken to the Added phone confirmation screen.

Landline (phone call only)

  1. Log in to the Duo Self-Service Portal with your MyID and password. If you have an existing method, authenticate with Duo, then select Add a device.

  2. To enroll a landline, select Phone number from the list on the Add a Device screen.

  3. Select your country code and enter your telephone number. Check the This is a landline phone box and agreement to receive messages from Duo.Then click Continue.

  4. If you have an extension, enter that extension number and then click Add extension. Otherwise, click Skip this step.

  5. Confirm the phone number and extension is entered correctly, then click Yes, it’s correct.

    • You may be asked to verify your phone number with a call

    • Answer the phone call and type the passcode given into the box and click Verify

  6. You will be taken to the Added phone call confirmation screen.
