Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is a Linux operating system used on servers, workstations, and research computing systems. It provides a stable, security-focused platform with vendor-supported updates, patches, and software packages.
Systems that connect to the campus subscription can receive software updates and security fixes through Red Hat’s Satellite infrastructure. Red Hat management tools may also be used to provision, configure, monitor, and report on managed systems.
This software is available for x86-64 systems with Intel or AMD processors.
Who can access Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)?
Faculty, staff and student workers with UGA-owned computers can run all Red Hat Linux and Desktop products.
Personal machines for students, faculty and staff will run RHEL for Workstations and Desktop products only.
RedHat licenses may also be purchased from the USG Technology Store.
Services and software included in site license
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 for x86, x86_64
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 for x86, x86_64

Do not share activation keys. If you share your activation key, your machine(s) will be removed from the satellite and your account will be terminated.

Improperly registered machines may be removed within 24 hours.
How do I start using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) services?
To begin, download the ISO files for installation. You must be on campus to download and install these files.
Installation guides are available on RedHat's website.
