How to Set Up a ChatGPT Edu Account

There are several ways to set up a ChatGPT Edu account. Please choose the method that suits you best.

I'm new to ChatGPT and have never used it before.

Click the Join Workspace link in your ChatGPT Edu welcome email from OpenAI. 

Choose Sign Up.

Create your account using your MyID@uga.edu email address.

  • Click Continue with Google (recommended if your @uga.edu is Google-based) or click Sign up with email and create a password.
  • Do not use Continue with Microsoft
  • Complete the setup process. You may be asked to verify or provide some of your contact information and accept OpenAI’s terms and conditions.

You’ll be automatically added to the ChatGPT Edu workspace.   

Look for the UGA Logo in the bottom left of the screen to confirm you're in your Edu account.

Note: When you use ChatGPT Edu, you might also be prompted to sign in with UGA SSO, especially if you’re signing in with Google or clicking login links from your UGAMail account. This is expected behavior, and you can log in with your MyID and password as usual.
