Introducing WorkCenters

   Overview   

The WorkCenters in each module give quick access to the menu items, reports and queries that are required to perform the responsibilities for that module. It puts the items you need in a central location to save time involved in navigation to the many transaction screens.

In this article, you will take a tour of a WorkCenter to understand how daily tasks are organized and managed.

In this example, you will see the Accounts Payable WorkCenter.

1. Step 1

The Employee Self Service page is displayed with the Classic Home tile highlighted.

First, log into OneUSG Connect.

Most WorkCenters are accessed from the Classic menu, not from the Fluid homepages.

Click the Classic Home tile.

2. Step 2

The Main Menu navigation page is displayed with the "Accounts Payable WorkCenter" option highlighted.

Use the Main Menu to navigate to your WorkCenter. Each module has its own WorkCenter.

Main Menu > Accounts Payable  > Accounts Payable WorkCenter

3. Step 3

The AccountsPayable WorkCenter page is displayed and highlighted.

All WorkCenters are organized in the same fashion. They are divided into two main areas.

4. Step 4

The AccountsPayable WorkCenter page is displayed with the pagelet area highlighted.

The left side of the WorkCenter page is called the pagelet area.

There are two tabs, Main and Reports/Queries, with two pagelets on each.

5. Step 5

The transaction area is highlighted.

The right side of the page is the transaction area. This is the area where you will perform the work associated with the tasks you select.

6. Step 6

The More icon is highlighted.

You can collapse the pagelets to more easily see the other pagelet on the page.

7. Step 7

The Minimize button is highlighted.
After clicking the dropdown menu, click the Minimize button to close the pagelets. 

8. Step 8

The More icon is highlighted.

Notice that the My Work pagelet has minimized so that you can see the information in the Links pagelet.

To explore what is in the My Work pagelet contains, you will need to expand this section.

9. Step 9

The Expand button is highlighted.
After clicking the dropdown menu, click the Expand button to explore. 

10. Step 10

The My Work pagelet is highlighted.

The Main tab contains the My Work and Links pagelets.

The My Work pagelet contains information to point you to tasks that need your attention. You will find notifications, links to items awaiting your approval, and links to other work items that are awaiting action.

Notice that these links are divided into groupings based on the type of work. These group headings are expandable and collapsible to make items for your attention easier to access.

11. Step 11

The dotted line is highlighted.

You can also resize the pagelets using the dotted line in each pagelet.

Hover over the line until it turns into a double-sided arrow and drag it up or down to resize the area.

12. Step 12

The Links pagelet is highlighted.

The Links Pagelet includes links to other pages to enter, modify and view data.

You can click on these links to open the pages to enter transactions.

13. Step 13

The Reports and Queries tab is highlighted.
Click on the Reports and Queries tab to view additional pagelets. 

14. Step 14

The pagelet area is highlighted.

The Reports/Queries tab contains two pagelets.

15. Step 15

The Queries pagelet is highlighted.

The Queries pagelet contains links to run queries that have been created to provide information relevant to that module's activity.

These queries have been selected specifically as the system was built and the list is maintained by the system administrator.

16. Step 16

The Reports/Processes pagelet is highlighted.

The Reports/Processes pagelet provides links to reports and processes that are frequently used. The links go directly to the Run Control page for the selected report or process.

These are also maintained by the system administrator.

17. Step 17

The Main tab is highlighted.

Click the Main tab to return to the main page. 

There is one other link that can help you control information retrieved from the WorkCenter.

18. Step 18

The Edit Filters link is highlighted.

The Edit Filters link allows you to specify criteria for the items in your My Work pagelet.

If an item in that area appears in red, the filters have not been specified.

19. Step 19

The My Work Links section is highlighted.

The Edit Filters page is displayed. Use this page to adjust filters for the links in the My Work pagelet.

20. Step 20

The Edit Filter button from the first row is highlighted.

Click the Edit Filter button to add criteria for the menu item.

21. Step 21

The Filter Values pop-up window is displayed and highlighted.

Use the operators and look-up information to set the parameters you use most of the time.

22. Step 22

The Filter Values pop-up window is displayed with the Business Unit field highlighted.

You can enter data to narrow your search. 

Example shown above: 18000 in Business Unit. 

23. Step 23

The OK button is highlighted.
When you have entered the needed values, click OK.

24. Step 24

A pop-up window is displayed with the OK button highlighted.

A message will appear. Click OK to proceed. 

25. Step 25

The Accounts Payable WorkCenter page is displayed with the Reload icon highlighted.

After making a change, you need to reload the My Work pagelet to make sure that the changes are available.

26. Step 26

The Accounts Payable WorkCenter page is displayed with the Incomplete Vouchers text highlighted.

Notice that the item is now available for use on the My Work pagelet.

27. Step 27

The Regular Entry link is highlighted.

Click on the Regular Entry link to display the search page

28. Step 28

The Add button is highlighted.

If you click on the link, the search page appears in the transaction area so you can perform that task.

29. Step 29

The Accounts Payable WorkCenter page is displayed and highlighted.

The Vouchers Regular Entry page is displayed.
