Why are these best practices?
The Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) provides insurance to the University through a self-insured program. In order to ensure accurate reporting and claim handling efficiency, it is important to know how to properly report claim.
Best Practices
Contact the University of Georgia Police or local law enforcement authorities.
Contact Vance Silcott 706-425-3083 (
vsilcott@uga.edu
) within 48 hours of the incident.
Protect property from further damage.
Vance Silcott will get a company to work with cleanup and restoration for the property and submit Notice of Loss to DOAS.
After completion of work, Sworn Proof of loss is submitted and department will be responsible for the deductible.
