Why are these best practices?
  • The Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) provides insurance to the University through a self-insured program.  In order to ensure accurate reporting and claim handling efficiency, it is important to know how to properly report claim.
Best Practices
  • Contact the University of Georgia Police or local law enforcement authorities. 
  • Contact Vance Silcott 706-425-3083 (vsilcott@uga.edu) within 48 hours of the incident.
  • Protect property from further damage.
  • Vance Silcott will get a company to work with cleanup and restoration for the property and submit Notice of Loss to DOAS.
  • After completion of work, Sworn Proof of loss is submitted and department will be responsible for the deductible.
