Creating a List of Sequential Dates in Excel

   Overview   

You can quickly create a sequential list of dates in a spreadsheet (ex: 7/1/2019, 7/2/2019, 7/3/2019) by using the Fill feature.

   Instructions   

  1. Step 1: In a worksheet, click to select the appropriate cell that contains the first date you want in a sequential list of dates. 
  2. Step 2: With the appropriate cells selected, click the Fill button on the Home tab to display a list of fill options.
  3. Step 3: To create a list of sequential dates from the selected cell, click the Series... option.
  4. Step 4: From the menu options, choose the appropriate Series in, Type, and Date Unit to apply to your sequential list of dates, then click the OK button.
  5. Step 5: A list of sequential dates is populated in the selected cells.

In this article, you will learn the steps to create a list of sequential dates in an Excel worksheet. 

1. Step 1

In a worksheet, click to select the appropriate cell that contains the first date you want in a sequential list of dates. Then drag the mouse to the cell where you want the list to end.

With the appropriate cells selected, click the Fill button on the Home tab to display a list of fill options.

A list of fill options is displayed.

To create a list of sequential dates from the selected cell, click the Series... option.

The Series menu is displayed. From the menu options, choose the appropriate Series in, Type, and Date Unit to apply to your sequential list of dates, then click the OK button.

A list of sequential dates is populated in the selected cells.
