Deleting a SpeedType

You may determine that you no longer need a specific SpeedType. Since these are visible to all, it is a good practice to delete SpeedTypes that are no longer needed.

An automatic process that runs several times a day will also remove the corresponding Accounting Tag. Prior to June 2022, it was necessary to separately inactivate the Accounting Tag. This is no longer required.

 

In this article, you will learn the steps to delete a SpeedType that is no longer needed in the UGA Financial Management System.

1. Step 1

From the Employee Self Service homepage, click the Classic Home tile.

2. Step 2

Main Menu > Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > Design ChartFields > Define Values > Define Speed Type Click the Define Speed Type link.

Navigate to the SpeedTypes page by selecting:

Main Menu > Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > Design ChartFields > Define Values > Define Speed Type

Click the Define Speed Type link.

3. Step 3

The SpeedTypes page is displayed with the Find an Existing Value tab open.

To find the SpeedType you wish to delete, enter the appropriate value(s) into one or more fields. You can enter the SpeedType itself into the SpeedType Key field.  

Example shown here: Enter "19116ADMIN" into the SpeedType Key field.

4. Step 4

Click the Type of SpeedType drop-down list that is defaulted to One User.

5. Step 5

Click the Universal (All Users) option.

6. Step 6

When your search criteria are entered, click the Search button.

7. Step 7

To delete an existing SpeedType, click the Delete icon to the right of the SetID 18000.

The searched SpeedType information is displayed with the associated ChartField values.

Note: SpeedTypes should not include an Account and Budget Reference. Since these ChartFields designate where and when a transaction is posted, you should enter these values each time you submit a transaction.

To delete an existing SpeedType, click the Delete icon to the right of the SetID 18000.

8. Step 8

A pop-up window asks if you are sure you want to delete the SpeedType.

Click the Yes button.
