Special Events Request

Steps to Scheduling an Event

  1. Check the Terry Master Calendar  http://www.terry.uga.edu/events and the UGA Master Calendar https://calendar.uga.edu/ to ensure you are not competing with another important event on campus

  2. Reserve room/location for the event through Facilities Requests Form

  3. Place the event on the Terry Master Calendar, if applicable

  4. Complete Special Events Request form

Any service regardless of cost, that requires a contract must be reviewed by Procurement and Legal Affairs before it is signed by a department representative. Special Events staff cannot sign contracts for department events.  This may require additional lead time and may affect your event and/or payment of invoices if not properly handled.

 

It is the duty of the Terry College of Business Office of Special Events to plan, produce and manage a variety of educational and innovative events catering to the College’s key constituents:  students, faculty, staff, alumni, and benefactors. The Office of Special Events will seek to conduct all events with a consistently high level of professionalism, commitment, and performance excellence.

A special event is defined as a non-academic activity which promotes the College in a public setting, utilizing proper College branding and consistent with the mission of the Terry College of Business.  These events may be educational, public service, social, celebratory, welcoming or solemn in nature. Examples of priority events include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • All events sponsored by or requested by the Office of the Dean
  • Requested support for events coordinated by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations 
  • Economic Outlook Series; Graduation/Convocation (with USSCR); Honors Day (with USSCR); New Student Welcome (Fall and Spring); Welcome Back events for faculty, staff and students (Fall); Homecoming (Fall) ; Terry Faculty and Staff Awards 

 

Special Events Representation

Terry College of Business Office of Special Events is here to ensure that your department plans successful events and programs that seek to educate, foster a sense of community and build relationships. 

Events related to currently enrolled students, departmental retreats, faculty retreats or other departmental requests will be reviewed by the Director of Special Events. Should the office have the resources to support the event, we will be happy to assist. 

Please note:  Student organization requests should come from the academic department in which the student group is housed.  The faculty/staff advisor and/or departmental contact must be in attendance at the event.
