These instructions can be used to manually export saved chats from your existing Gemini account and import them into a new account.
Exporting a Single Chat Conversation
Option 1:
Highlight the contents of the conversation, then copy and paste into a Word document.
Option 2:
- Scroll to the bottom of the Gemini response you'd like to export.
- Click on the Share & Export icon.
- Select Export to Docs to copy the entire conversation into Google Docs.
Exporting Your Entire Chat History
- Visit takeout.google.com and ensure that you are logged into the account you use to access Gemini.
- Click Deselect All.
- Scroll down to My Activity and check the box next to it.
- Click on Multiple Formats.
- Change the format dropdown to JSON so that it includes the full output of conversations and click OK.
- Click on All Activity Data Included.
- Click Deselect All and then check only Gemini Apps.
- Click OK.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Next Step.
- Set any additional options to your preference and click Create Export.
Importing a Chat Conversation
Start a new chat conversation in the importing account, then copy and paste the following text, followed by the contents of the importing chat conversation.
"I am migrating an archived chat conversation from one Gemini account to another. Below is the full text history of our previous conversation, including my prompts and your responses. Please read through it carefully, memorize the context, goals, and any formatting rules we established. Do not summarize it back to me. Just reply with 'Context loaded. I am ready to continue our conversation.' Here is the history:
[Paste conversation text here]"
