Enrolling with Duo Mobile App for Verified Push or Passcode

Summary

How to enroll in Duo with the Duo Mobile app.

Body

  1. Log in to the Duo Self-Service Portal with your MyID and password. If you have an existing method, authenticate with Duo, then select Add a device.Screenshot of Duo self-service portal with "Add a device" circled.

  2. If you have a smart phone or tablet and would like to set up the Duo Mobile app, click the Duo Mobile option on the Add a device screen.

  3. After selecting the Duo Mobile option, you will be prompted to enter your phone number, select Country code, and check the box to confirm that you agree to received messages from Duo.

    1. If you have a tablet, click I have a tablet and skip step 4.

  4. You will then be prompted to confirm that the phone number is correct. Click Yes, it’s correct to continue.

  5. You will be instructed to download and install the Duo Mobile app. Follow the installation directions for your device. Once you have successfully installed the Duo Mobile app on your device, then hit the Next button.

  6. You will move on to the activation page where you will be instructed to scan the QR code via the Duo Mobile App or your camera app on your phone.

  7. You can use either a QR code or an activation link sent to your email to connect your account with the Duo Mobile app

    1. Using a QR code

      1. In the app, click Set up account on the Welcome screen.

      2. Then click Use a QR code.

      3. The camera will open, allow camera permission as needed, and then scan the QR barcode.

      4. You will get a checkmark on the QR code when you have successfully scanned the code.

    2. Using activation link

      1. Click Get an activation link instead.

      2. Enter your email address and click Send Email.

      3. On the device you have Duo Mobile installed, go to the inbox of the email you entered. You should see an email titled Duo Mobile Activation. Open the email and click the activation link. If it asks if you want to open the link with Duo Mobile, hit open or allow.

  8. After scanning the QR code or opening the activation link with the app, in the Duo Mobile app, name the connection and click Save.

  9. On the self-service portal, you will get confirmation that Duo Mobile was added to your account.
