Overdue, Loss, and Damage Policy

Summary

This article contains information about the overdue policy, damage and loss policy, and fines for the Tech Lending program.

Body

Overdue Policy

There are no late fines for the Tech Lending program.

Three late returns will result in the patron being banned from the program for the remainder of the semester.

Any item returned after the due date is considered late.

Fines

Fines may apply if an item is lost or damaged. Tech Lending items are declared lost when they are more than 24 hours overdue.

Please email maincirc@uga.edu or call 706-542-3256 during Main Library Circulation Desk open hours to pay fines.

Loss

Students assume risk when they borrow technology and should treat equipment with care. Borrowers are liable for the replacement cost if equipment, components, or accessories are lost. Report lost or misplaced equipment ASAP via our Tech Lending Request Form to maximize chances of recovering items.

Do not leave items at an unattended service desk. Leaving items at an unattended desk will result in a $50 mishandling charge.

Damage

Some damage is inevitable over time due to wear and tear. Please report physical damage, technical malfunction, and/or missing components ASAP. Borrowers will be held financially responsible for damage requiring repairs in an amount to be determined by Tech Lending staff.

Emergencies

Borrowers in emergency situations, including those related to COVID-19, should contact the MLC to avoid charges or loss of access. Please call 706-542-4673 or contact us online.
