Best Practices: Space Planning and Management (Review)

• Complete an accurate space inventory data.
• Accurate coding and classification of spaces / Room Use Code (RUC).
• Maintain graphic sources for space inventory data (building floorplans), linked to database Link Grant Funding to space (in development at UGA but not currently active as a practice).
• Link Human Capital to space (not currently practiced at UGA, but a long-term goal).
• Ensure transparency with space allocation requests, changes and approvals.
• Support and assist OVPI and Office of the Registrar as necessary to ensure optimal utilization of instructional spaces.

• Space is an invaluable and limited resource impacting each faculty, staff, and student. Space Planning and Management best practices should align with both Strategic and Capital Plans of the institution in order to support and/or enable decision-making on initiatives and projects.
