Using the Paycheck Modeler

In this article, you will use the Paycheck Modeler to view potential changes to your paycheck.

   Overview   

In OneUSG Connect, you have access to a new feature called the Paycheck Modeler. With the paycheck modeler, you can determine what your take home pay would be if you adjusted your earnings, your deductions, or your tax information. Whether bi-weekly or monthly, paycheck modeler is a powerful tool to investigate your own what-if scenarios that impact your paycheck.

Note: The Paycheck Modeler will not be functional until after you have a paycheck in the new system.

In this article, you will use the Paycheck Modeler to view potential changes to your paycheck. 

1. Step 1

The Employee Self Service page is displayed with the Payroll tile highlighted.

First, log into OneUSG Connect

From the Employee Self Service Homepage, click the Payroll tile.

2. Step 2

The Payroll page is displayed with the Paycheck Modeler highlighted.

Click the Paycheck Modeler tile.

3. Step 3

The Start page is displayed with the Terms and Conditions checkbox highlighted.

Review the Usage Terms and Conditions. Click the Terms and Conditions checkbox to agree to the terms and conditions.

4. Step 4

The Start page is displayed with the Let's Get Started button highlighted.

After agreeing to the terms and conditions, click the Let's Get Started button.

5. Step 5

The My Earnings page is displayed with the Next button highlighted.

If applicable, change the earnings type and amount by clicking the Edit icon.

Click the Next button.

6. Step 6

The My Deductions page is highlighted with the Edit button highlighted.

If applicable, change the deduction amount. Any deduction that is listed can be edited to see how the new amount will impact your pay check.

Example shown here: you will change the 403(b) contribution.

Note: Depending upon their benefit-eligibility status, employees will see different choices for modelling on this page.

Click the Edit button.

7. Step 7

The Paycheck Modeler page is displayed with the Amount field highlighted.

Delete the number in the Amount field to clear the current amount.

8. Step 8

The Paycheck Modeler page is displayed with the Amount field highlighted.

Enter the appropriate deduction amount.

Example shown here: " 16 ".

9. Step 9

The OK button is highlighted.

Click the OK button.

10. Step 10

The Next button is highlighted.

Note: You can click the Add Deductions button at the bottom of the screen to model how an additional deduction will impact your pay check.

Click the Next button.

11. Step 11

The My Tax Withholding Information is displayed with the Edit button highlighted.

If applicable, change the tax withholding information by clicking the Edit icon.

Example shown here: you will modify the tax withholding allowance.

Click the Edit button.

12. Step 12

The Paycheck Modeler page is displayed with the Other Income field highlighted.

Delete the amount in the Other Income field to clear the field.

13. Step 13

The Paycheck Modeler page is displayed with the Other Income field highlighted.

Enter the appropriate amount in the withholding allowance box.

14. Step 14

The Submit button is highlighted.

Click the Submit button.

15. Step 15

The My Tax Withholding Information page is displayed with the Next button highlighted.

Click the Next button.

16. Step 16

The Calculate page is displayed with the Calculate My Modeled Check button highlighted.

Click the Calculate My Modeled Check button.

17. Step 17

A pop-up message is displayed with the OK button highlighted.

Click the OK button.

18. Step 18

The Calculate page is displayed with the next button highlighted.

Click the Next button.

19. Step 19

The Results page is displayed with the Modeled Check Results, Modeled Check Ratio, and Links to Related Actions sections highlighted.

The results of the changes are displayed.

20. Step 20

The Results page is displayed with the Print My Modeled Check and Print My Changes buttons highlighted.

You can print the modeled check or print the changes you made.

21. Step 21

The Details link is highlighted.

For additional gross earnings information, click the Details link.

22. Step 22

The Paycheck Modeler page is displayed with the Return button highlighted.

Earnings details are displayed.

Click the Return button.

23. Step 23

The Results page is displayed with the Details link highlighted.

For additional information regarding your taxes, click the Details link.

24. Step 24

Tax details are displayed.

Click the Return button.

For additional information regarding deductions, click the Details link.

Deduction details are displayed.

Click the Return button.

27. Step 27

The Results page is displayed with the Related Actions link highlighted.

If you discover changes you want to make permanent, you can access the pages to make the changes from the Links to Related Actions section.

Click the Related Actions link.

28. Step 28

The Results page is displayed with the Payroll Actions menu highlighted.

A menu opens providing access to payroll actions and benefits actions.

Click the Payroll Actions menu.

29. Step 29

The W-4 Tax Information option is highlighted from the Payroll Actions menu.

You can make a change to your Federal Withholding information from this link.

Click the  W-4 Tax Information  menu.

30. Step 30

The W-4 Withholding Certificate is displayed and highlighted.

The W-4 Tax Information page opens. From this page, you can enter and submit W-4 Withholding changes.

31. Step 31

The W-4 Withholding Certificate is displayed with the Submit button highlighted.

After making changes, click the Submit button to submit your edits.
