Evaluating a Position

Summary

In this article, you will learn the steps to evaluate a position.

   Overview   

You will use UGAJobs to evaluate (update) a position.  Reasons for the update include reclassifying an occupied position, reclassifying a vacant position, updating employee position description, replacing an employee, replacing a supervisor, or updating budget details.

Once submitted, the request goes to the Approver.

In this article, you will learn the steps to evaluate a position.

Note: Data has been masked or changed to protect employee information.

1. Step 1

The UGAJobs homepage is displayed with the Position Descriptions dropdown menu selected.

First, log into UGAJobs.

On the UGAJobs homepage, click the Position Descriptions link.

2. Step 2

The UGAJobs homepage is displayed with the Staff link highlighted.

Click the Staff link.

3. Step 3

The Staff Position Descriptions page is displayed with the checkbox next to the appropriate position highlighted.

The Staff Position Descriptions page is displayed.

Select the appropriate position.

4. Step 4

The Position Description: HR SR MANAGING CONSULTANT (Staff) page is displayed with the Evaluate Position Description link highlighted.

Click the Evaluate Position Description link.

5. Step 5

Evaluate Position Description page is displayed with the Start button highlighted.

A confirmation page is displayed with a note that the request will lock with position description from other updates until the request has been completed.

When you are ready to begin, click the Start button.

6. Step 6

The Position Justification page is displayed with the Reclassify Vacant Position option highlighted.

The Position Justification page is displayed.

In the Reason for Position Update section, click the appropriate option. You can select multiple reasons.

Enter the appropriate information into the Justification of Need field.

Click the Next >> button.

The Classification page is displayed with the Classification section highlighted.

The Classification page is displayed. You can view the Classification Details relating to this position.

Scroll down to click the Filter these results link.

The Search Classifications window is displayed with the Search Keyword field highlighted.

The Search Classifications window will appear.

Enter search information into the Search Keyword field.

The Position Details page is displayed. The first section provides information on the Seated Employee, if relevant. The second section lists the Position Information.

In the Position Information section, enter the appropriate Working Title into the field.

You can edit the FTE field, if needed.

Next, enter the appropriate information into the Standard Hours field.

Note: You can continue to add additional duties/responsibilities as needed. The total percentage of time across all duties should total 100.

Additional information on this field is located below the field.

Enter the appropriate information into the List similar positions at UGA field.

You should include the name, title, and department.

Select an appropriate response.

With the appropriate Approver selected, click the Submit button.

The Position Summary page is displayed. A notice appears at the top of the page to indicate that the request was successfully transitioned, and the Current Status is updated to "Approver".
