Hewlett Packard DesignJet Z9 (Plotter Poster) Printing Instructions

Instructions for printing posters and other documents from the Warnell Graduate Lab (Room 4-515)

Body

There are two printers housed in this computer laboratory:

  1. HP Laser Jet Enterprise M610 – Used for 8.5 X 11 Letter Printing
  2. HP Design Jet Z9 + PostScript 44-Inch – Used for larger Poster Printing

When selecting to print from the M610, please note the following:

 

  1. After locating and selecting the “PRINT” option, locate the choice of printers at the upper right corner of the Print window on the desktop computer
  2. Select “Grad Lab Printer.” (If using a laptop computer, use the IP address 128.192.48.62)
  3. Confirm that 8.5 X 11 is selected for the paper size and choose your number of copies
  4. Confirm that enough 8.5 X 11 paper is available in the paper tray for your printing.  If not, message Warnell IT via Team Dynamix ticket
  5. Press/Click “PRINT

 

When selecting to print from the DesignJet z9 + PostScript – 44-Inch, please note the following when using a web browser (I.E., Google Chrome) or PowerPoint:

  1. Locate and select “SETTINGS” on the desktop computer
  2. Locate and select “DEVICES”
  3. Locate and select “PRINTERS”
  4. Locate and select “HP DesignJet Z9 + 44-Inch [FD37D03]” or “HP DesignJet Z9 + 44-Inch PDF V4”
  5. If using a laptop computer, use the IP address 172.22.18.189
  6. While using a PowerPoint slide to print, the slide will convert to a PDF, which is why PDF V4 should be selected
  7. Locate and select “PRINTER PROPERTIES”
  8. Locate and select “BASIC”
  9. Locate and select “PREFERENCES”
  10. Locate “PRESET” and select “POSTER”
  11. Locate and select “DOCUMENT SIZE” The letter D should be listed after selecting “POSTER”
  12. Scroll down, locate, and select “CUSTOM”
  13. Locate and select “CREATE”
  14. “CREATE DOCUMENT CUSTOM SIZE” window will open
  15. Select “CUSTOM 1”
  16. Select “INCHES”
  17. Enter the width and height dimensions of the poster you wish to print (i.e., 44 X 36).  Click “OK”
  18. Continue to scroll down and select “HP Universal Heavyweight Coated Paper”
  19. Return to the “PRINT” page, locate, and select the “PRINT” option, locate the choice of printers at the upper right corner of the Print window
  20. Locate and select “SEE MORE” if you do NOT find “HP Design Jet Z9 + 44-Inch
  21. Locate and select “HP DesignJet Z9 + 44-Inch [FD37D03]” or “HP DesignJet Z9 + 44-Inch PDF V4”

 

The HP DesignJet Z9 + 44-Inch Poster Printer also has a USB Thumb Drive functionality.  To use this feature, please do the following:

 

  1. Bring a USB thumb drive with your poster saved to it.  Save your poster as a JPEG and a PDF
  2. On the Poster Printer Home Screen, locate and select the USB Thumb Drive Icon
  3. Insert your USB Thumb Drive in the thumb drive port
  4. Scroll down the menu to locate your poster copy
  5. Select how many copies to print.
  6. Select the paper roll type (i.e., “HP Universal Heavyweight Coated paper”)
  7. Press OK for the Default Type
  8. Press the Print icon to print.  Once selected, you should hear a grinding noise indicating that printing is starting
  9. When finished, the printer will automatically cut your poster.

Allow your poster to drop into the basket.Give the poster a minute or two to dry

For additional assistance, contact Warnell IT by doing the following:

 

  1. Visit www.warnell.uga.edu and locate the Directory tab
  2. After highlighting the Directory tab, scroll down to locate the Office of Information Technology. Press Enter
  3. On the Warnell OIT homepage, locate Submit a Ticket to the right of the page. Press Enter
  4. On the Warnell IT Support Portal page, scroll down to Submit Support Request.  Press Enter
  5. The Request Support page will open.  Type in the Title of the ticket, type your name for the Requestor, type the name of the Warnell IT person who will be responsible for the ticket, select the support or request type of issue and, lastly, type a description of the issue
  6. Press Submit to send the ticket to Warnell IT
