Checkout Procedures
- To reserve equipment, email sswhelp@uga.edu to find out if the item you want is available. Equipment is checked out on a first come, first served basis, however priority is given to faculty members for class purposes.
- After receiving a check out confirmation, bring your University ID to serve as verification and pick up the equipment from the ITS help desk on second floor in the SSW building. Your ID information will be documented and a signature is required. Equipment can be checked out for 3 -5 days. If a longer period is needed, please email sswhelp@uga.edu and submit a request for an extension stating why an extension is necessary.
- If you have never used the equipment before, please schedule a time for a quick orientation session on the item. You may always ask ITS staff to give you a quick review of how the equipment operates.
- Thoroughly inspect all equipment before leaving the check out area. Upon leaving the area, any problems discovered with the equipment or any missing accessories become the responsibility of the borrower.
- To avoid suspension or loss of the privilege to borrow from SSW, please make sure equipment is returned to someone in the ITS unit by the due date. Do not leave equipment if no one is available to check it back in.
Lost or Damaged Equipment
It is the borrower’s responsibility to report lost or damaged equipment as soon as possible so that it can be addressed by proper authorities and serviced, decommissioned, or reported to police in theft or lost cases. If you experience difficulties after picking up equipment, no matter how minor, please report the problem as soon as you are aware of an issue and return the equipment. Use of equipment is a privilege, not a right, and this privilege may be suspended or revoked if the equipment or privilege is abused or misused.
