All SSW classrooms except room 300 have two options for displaying content during classes. We are currently working to simplify and improve these setups over the next year. As the options change, this article will be updated, and we will send out email notifications.
The first option is a podium workstation and audiovisual control system.
The second option is a large monitor with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
Follow the steps below to get started t with either option.
A. Large Screen Monitors and SmartBoards
– Rooms 104, 211, 213, 215, 241, and 245 have Dell monitors and connected computers – Turn on the monitor mounted on the wall by pressing its power button on the lower-right. Turn on the computer underneath it by pressing its power button in the lower left corner.
– Locate the monitor’s remote, which is attacked to the left side, to select the input for the PC. Point the remote at the lower left hand-side of the monitor for best results.
– Use the wireless keyboard and mouse to log in with your UGA MyID and open the desired website or file.
The Dell monitor is touch sensitive and can be used as a white board – a digital pen is attached to left side of the monitor.
– Select or touch the whiteboard icon on the desktop. Use the digital pen attached to the monitor’s side as you would a normal whiteboard.
– Laptops can be plugged into ports on the rear left-hand side of these monitors. Change the input via the remote accordingly. Change input back to pc setting when finished.
B. Podium computer and projector – This option involves attention to three components – the projector screen ( mounted in the ceiling), the desktop computer ( inside the lectern cabinet), the AMX control panel ( on the wall closest to the workstation)
– Bring down the projector screen – locate its switch on the wall and touch it to bring the screen down.
– Make sure the computer at the lectern is turned on (may be on already); To check – press the space bar on the keyboard. You should see a faint green light on the power button if the power is on. If there is no light, press and hold the computer’s power button for two seconds to turn on the PC.
– If you are using a laptop, connect your laptop to the vga or hdmi connector cables at the workstation and turn it on.
– Log in to the computer with your UGA credentials.
– Touch the AMX control panel on the wall to wake it up and use this device to switch from desktop or laptop display to display on the LCD projector
– To display content from your computer to the LCD projector, touch the desktop computer or laptop button as appropriate and the tab labelled Lcd projector; then touch the On button. ( you will hear the projector start up and see its light come on)

1. Desktop Computer: Allows you to project whatever is displayed on the computer’s monitor.
2. Laptop VGA: Allows you to project a laptop’s screen by connecting it to the supplied VGA cable.
3. Laptop HDMI: Allows you to project a laptop’s screen by connecting it to the supplied HDMI cable.
4. DVD, CD AND BluRay: Allows you to project from the DVD player inside the cabinet There should be a black remote control on the cabinet to control the DVD player.
5. Auxiliary Inputs: Allows you to connect devices which require red, white, and yellow auxiliary cables (video cameras, for example) ; not usef.
6. ON: Pressing this will turn on the projector if it is not on already. You may get one of two messages after you press this. The first informs you that the projector will take 120 seconds to begin. And the second notifies you that the project’s bulb is currently hot. Both of these messages are expected and indicate the touch panel is working correctly!
7. OFF: Pressing this will turn off the projector.
8. BLANK: Press this once to hide the screen and one more time to bring it back up.t. This is useful if you need to find an email or screen but dont want the entire class to see
9. VOLUME: controls the volume of the projector
Please turn off projector when finished using it to preserve its bulb – one projector bulb costs 300 dollars
